Passiontide began on the 5th Sunday of Lent. This is a wonderful season of opportunity for us all to refocus our minds and re-orientate our busy lives towards our saviour Jesus Christ, however easy or difficult we might find that at the moment. During the forty days in the wilderness that lent represents, Jesus was tempted and tested but above all, he demonstrated a powerful understanding of who he was and what mattered most to him.
For us today, the Holy Spirit is still revealing the mystery and majesty of God to us through Jesus, who is now interceding on our behalf. We too, in his presence, can also recongnise the truth about ourselves and see our lives in the light of the kingdom of God. It is with deep gratitude that we can each approach Jesus knowing we are accepted, loved and forgiven because of all that he has done for us through his life, death and resurrection.
As we approach Jesus in our daily living, during this period of lent, and beyond, with confidence. We don’t need to fear his presence, and we can be assured again that he is completely aware of our needs and desires.
Hebrews 4: 14-16
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathise with out witnesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are, yet he did not win. Let us then approach God’s throne of grease with confidence, so that we may mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
May we desire to know more of the Lord as we spend time in his presence and above all in our daily lives.
In Jesus’ name. Amen
